Emmie is an experienced Educational Psychologist. She completed her doctoral training in 2011 at the University of Nottingham. Her doctoral thesis focussed on improving the academic self-concept and resilience of children in care with the use of a reading intervention. Since qualifying as an EP, Emmie has worked in both main grade & specialist senior EP roles for two Midlands Local Authorities.
Emmie's professional special interests include Down Syndrome, complex needs and supervision. Emmie is also passionate about supporting parents/carers of children and young people with additional needs.
Prior to becoming an EP, Emmie worked as a residential support worker in a children's home and as a Graduate EP for a Local Authority. She also volunteered as a classroom assistant.
In her spare time, Emmie enjoys spending time with her young family. She also volunteers her time as a trustee of a charity support group for parents/carers of children with Down Syndrome and enjoys Zumba and going to the gym.
