Dr Emily Crichton (nee Williams) is a Chartered Educational Psychologist. She is the Managing Director and Principal Educational Psychologist at EPE.

She completed her BSc (Hons) in Psychology at the University of Birmingham between 1999 and 2003 during which time she developed a real interest in educational and child psychology undertaking research into children's understanding which was later (2004) published in the journal of Child Development:Three- to four-year-olds’ recognition that symbols have a stable meaning: Pictures are understood before written words. Apperly, I.A., Williams, E. & Williams, J. (2004). Child Development, 75(5) 1510-1522.

Having decided she wanted to pursue a career in Educational Psychology, in 2002, she went on to undertake a PGCE in Primary Education at the University of Birmingham and having qualified as a teacher spent 3 years working in a large urban primary school in Dudley in the West Midlands. Her interest in working to support children with additional needs continued to develop and in her final year she was promoted to the position of Special Education Needs Co-ordinator (SENCo) completing a Masters Level PGCE in SENCo Standards.

In 2005 she was offered the post of Assistant Educational Psychologist in Dudley and a year later she was awarded a place on the Doctorate in Applied Educational Psychology at the University of Nottingham.


During her training she gained experience of working as a Trainee Educational Psychologist in Staffordshire and Birmingham before returning to Dudley to complete her qualification.

Since she  finished her Doctorate in 2011 she has worked as a Chartered Educational Psychologist in Dudley for 3 years during which time she had responsibility for a large patch of schools including primary, secondary and specialist settings and worked alongside colleagues from a range of Educational, Social Care and Health settings.

In January 2015 she launched the limited company of Educational Psychology for Everyone (EPE) working on her own with a small patch of schools but as the Service grew she recruited staff and now heads a multi-agency team of more than 20 professionals including other Educational Psychologists, Assistant Educational Psychologists, a Graduate Psychologist and allied education, health and care professionals and therapists. She is a trained Supervisor and offer supervision to staff in the service. She also delivers ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistants) training and supervision. Emily undertakes regular CPD, most recently completing a course in Emotion Coaching and currently completing training in Projective Techniques. 

When she is not working Emily enjoys spending time with her husband, friends and rescue dogs Callie and Honey. She also loves travelling, going to the gym and running, having recently completed a half marathon. She is a huge Wolves fan.
